After nearly 11 months of renovations that originally were only supposed to take two months, The Bag Lady store has finally reopened this month - March 2007! Soon we will be adding new lines and adding new bags to our existing lines. Please bear with us just a little while longer while we unpack and assess our inventory. We truly appreciate everyone's patience and understanding this past year; we simply could not have done it without you. The Bag Lady certainly has the best customers in the world - Y'all have been great!

OF BEAUFORT

In 1992, Suzanne Haupt moved from Pennsylvania to the picturesque town of Beaufort.

Drawing on her background in advertising art and the inspiration provided by the coastal Carolina sun, Suzie designed the SunTote by Suzie: a terrycloth bag that turns into a beach towel. The SunTote became an instant success in Beaufort and people around town began calling her "The Bag Lady."

With her new name, Suzie opened a small boutique and one-woman factory she fondly called her "Sweat Shop." Handbags were the original theme of the shop, but every day, customers clamored for a broader inventory, so she began scouring the country for the most fun, funky, and unique clothing, shoes, and jewelry. At The Bag Lady, our customers accessorize TO the bags. Her store is located at 413 Front Street in the historic town of Beaufort, NC.

If you have the good fortune to visit Beaufort, make sure to stroll down the original Bag Lady Lane. Look up, look down, look all around because here you will see animal bags snuggling in second story windows, backpacks strapped on children peering down from balconies, exotic hand-carved wooden bags, and dazzling evening bags displayed behind glass-paned doors. You might even see bags "growing" from trees! Walk into the Sweat Shop and ask for a demonstration of the original SunTote by Suzie.

So whether you're here or there, come in and stay awhile, 'cause at the Bag Lady, it's all about F-U-N. And guys . . . we have a table for you to relax and patiently wait for your gals.
